Our installation team arrived on site early February to begin the installation of a two-tier mezzanine floor. The upper floor space will extend from the mezzanine previously installed by WSL in the original warehouse ten years ago. Pavers have since increased their warehouse footprint area by 112% with a newly completed 47,000 sq. ft extension and WSL is currently working to create additional floor space of 54,000m2 across two levels of mezzanine floors.
55.5 tonnes of steel columns have been fabricated in our Leeds factory and delivered directly to site to complete the first section of the structure. Pavers currently has the capacity to store 480k pairs of shoes which will increase to 1.2 million pairs with the completion of the two-tier mezzanine incorporating shelving, racking and automation. WSL will complete the final phase by early May allowing Pavers to begin operating fully from their new space, where over 50 new jobs will be created.
The land at Northminster Business Park in York was the perfect location for Pavers when they constructed their original 38,750 sq. ft warehouse in 2006. The large plot of land had the capacity to accommodate the future growth they predicted and since purchasing Jones Bootmaker and Herring Shoes, Pavers can now increase their operation without relocating.

It was Catherine Paver’s ambition to seek style and comfort for every foot of any size, which saw the establishment of York based footwear retailer, Pavers, almost 50 years ago. Social gatherings and community hall events in her hometown of York was where Catherine first introduced her footwear range before acquiring her first shop premises in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. It’s fair to say that the second-generation footwear business, now managed by Catherine’s son Stuart Paver, has gained a fair amount of stomping ground since then, with over 170 shops across the UK, 40 more in India, their own dedicated TV shopping channel and a successful online store.
