Proficient in CDM 2015 Regulations, WSL ensure absolute safety when managing your Racking, Shelving or Mezzanine Floor Project.

Oct 2, 2019 | Accreditation, Design

Last week was a particularly busy week here at WSL as our more recent team members underwent two days of intense tuition, to master the vigorous (CDM 2015) Construction Design and Management 2015 Regulations .  As an already competent team of Principal Designers and Principal Contractors, their participation has further enhanced their knowledge in safe effective project management. The installation of a new storage solution including a pallet racking system, industrial shelving or a mezzanine floor is categorized as a construction project and therefore must be completed under the CDM Regulations.

What is the purpose of CDM?

The CDM regulations are placed to ensure all construction projects of any kind regardless of size are planned, constructed and completed safety. It is a legal requirement that everyone involved in a structural project abide by their own duties under the regulations as these are set out to lower risks and heighten the health, safety and welfare of all persons concerned.

What are my duties as a client?

As the project instigator and beneficiary the client is the prime decision maker and has control over such things as assigning teams, available funds and time restrictions. The regulations state that health and safety must be central to such decisions as the responsibility to ensure that the project is procured and managed to CDM regulations, falls directly on the client.

WSL and CDM

As a business our compliance to Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015 is paramount to ensuring that health and safety is at the forefront of all projects regardless of size and complexity. In order to protect all involved, each stage of every project is strategically managed to ensure that the health, safety and welfare of others is prioritized at all times. Our continual investment in employee training is just one of the ways of ensuring this is consistently achieved.

Here’s what some of our participants had to say about the course:

“The course has widened my knowledge on CDM and it has revealed the importance of applying it to the projects I manage” Sam Rowley – Project Manager

“Learning about the CDM 2015 regulations was an eye-opener for me personally, as I took more of an understanding on the various roles and responsibilities required by each person within a project. It’s definitely something that will benefit me in my day-to-day role.” Tom Williams – Design Manager
