What We Do
Pallet Racking Specialists
While standard pallet racking is the most common storage option, WSL are experts in all types of racking including cantilever racking designed to hold long items, mobile racking that can optimise storage, or bulk product storage in high density systems such as drive-in or double deep racking. Depending on the type of product stored and the access requirements, WSL can advise on the best racking type for each client.
Finding Items – Beam Labels
It is vital for retail facilities to keep a correct inventory of products and to be able to find them quickly and easily. In conjunction with leading suppliers, WSL can assist you in the creation of the right warehouse management system (or WMS). This can, depending on the size and complexity of your operation can be anything from automated product scanning on conveyor systems feeding information into a centralised network down to simply supplying and fitting pallet racking beam labels – allowing products to be clearly traced by location and amount.
In addition to racking, WSL have years of expertise at building and installing mezzanine floors. These are manufactured in a top spec Leeds based production facility, and are CE rated throughout the building process. With 30 years of experience, and a dedicated manufacturing and in-house inspection team, quality can be assured throughout the process. Mezzanine floors are an ideal solution for multiple different applications within the retail and online sector.
In recent years WSL has been asked to design and install multiple mezzanine floors for retail outlets; either to expand the existing sales floor, to create a showroom, or to use as offices above a sales floor for employees. When mezzanines will be accessed by large numbers of people, different regulations will become relevant. For a floor open to the general public, disabled access and more restrictive fire regulations will have to be considered. WSL are familiar with all relevant legislation and can incorporate the correct number of access points and any required fire safety considerations into the design. The Perfect Design
Specialist WSL designers speak to warehouse managers and business owners to understand the requirements of a project.
The earlier in the planning stages that WSL can be involved, the better – as our qualified team can advise on structural aspects such as aisle width, fire regulations, and access points. However, even when a storage facility is already established, WSL can step in and help to adapt storage to be more efficient.
The design process will look at issues such as what the facility is to be used for, the processes that will be required, the amount of product to be stored and the number of personnel that will be working at any one time. They will then develop the best design (or in some cases, several designs, to offer options that can be selected from.)
Fulfilment and Distribution Centres
Many warehouses now are not only storing products that will be shipped out in bulk to stores around the country, but will also be posting individual items to online customers. WSL has experience in adapting warehouses to include picking and packing areas. The design needs to feature the ideal balance of storage and access.
For example, sections of the warehouse can have narrow aisle racking installed, to take advantage of warehouse height by creating storage with very high racks and narrow aisles. This can be combined with picking areas, where everything is accessible at ground level and shoulder height, with plenty of aisle width for personnel to move around and access items.
A mezzanine is also an excellent option for fulfilment and distribution centres. Mezzanines can be strategically placed above low height picking areas, so that no space is lost from the bulk storage area of the warehouse. They are ideal for an office area or a packing area and WSL can provide a wide range of options for mezzanine storage.
Smart Shelving Professionals
WSL can help you to maximize all potential storage space with smart shelving systems perfect for safely and effectively storing your smaller, none-palletized items. Very quick and easy to assemble, this cost effective solution is not only versatile in that it can be adapted to suit your changing needs it can be multi-tiered with various walkways at different levels should you want to maximise the height or reduce the footprint of your facility.
